Guidelines for Minisymposium Presentations
For this call, we invite submissions addressing one or more of the following questions or topics:
As scientific discoveries and challenges grow in scale and complexity, enabled by high-fidelity mathematical models, cross-cutting artificial intelligence (AI), and the rise in computational capacity,
- How can we ensure trust in the methods, processes, and solutions derived through exascale-class co-design?
- How can we enable validated, reproducible, and reliable scientific results with HPC?
- How will co-design position HPC for future demands on scientific system trustworthiness?
- How can we strengthen societal trust towards the research ecosystems?
- Can the scientific computing community help deepen public communication regarding research findings?
In particular, the conference emphasizes on conversations that connect scientific computing with the following themes:
- Trust in AI
Submissions under this topic may explore methods for improving transparency, fairness, and accountability in AI systems, particularly in scientific computing. This includes approaches to mitigate bias, ensure reproducibility, and build confidence in AI-driven results within high-performance computing (HPC) environments.- Digital Twins
This topic invites proposals that focus on the development and application of digital twins in scientific research and engineering. Contributions may address how digital twins can enhance simulation accuracy, enable real-time monitoring, and support decision-making in complex systems through HPC and data-driven modelling. Also on the building blocks of high-fidelity digital twins of complex systems in natural sciences, engineering, and societies.- Societal Trust
Discourses involving bridging the societal trust deficit in science and research, along with enhancing public communication are welcome in this thematic focus. This links the impact of scientific computing and AI with topics such as socio-economic, ecological and political implications, policy-making, effective science communication, institutional and systemic hurdles, public participation, ethical dimensions, role of science in global challenges, credibility building, among others.
The PASC Conference series is an international and interdisciplinary platform for the exchange of knowledge in scientific computing and computational science with a strong focus on methods, tools, algorithms, workflows, application challenges, and novel techniques in the context of scientific usage of high performance computing.
The Conference is co-sponsored by the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS – a unit of ETH Zurich) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). The conference is managed by CSCS. The event will be hosted at Universität Bern & PHBern, in Bern, Switzerland.
SUBMISSION AND REVIEW PROCESS
The submission consists of the following:
- Title
- Scientific domain(s): A primary domain and (preferably) additional domains.
- Presenter details: Names and contact details of presenter.
- Abstract: Description of the talk (up to 800 words).
- Abstract for publication: A short abstract for publication in the conference program (no more than 200 words).
The proposal should address one or more of the following questions or topics:
- As scientific discoveries and challenges grow in scale and complexity, enabled by cross-cutting artificial intelligence (AI), how can we ensure trust in the methods, processes, and solutions derived through exascale-class co-design? How can we enable validated, reproducible, and reliable scientific results with HPC? How will co-design position HPC for future demands on scientific system trustworthiness?
- Trust in AI
- Digital Twins
All of the submissions will be reviewed directly by the chairs of the Minisymposia and Posters Program.
Proposals must be submitted through the PASC26 online submission portal.
